TLDEF Opposes Delaware Regulation that Would Hurt Trans Students

Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund is urging our communities to speak about against a Delaware Department of Education regulation that would force trans youth to get a parent’s permission to self-identify their gender identity at school. Regulation 225 originally ensured safeguards for trans students to present themselves authentically in their school environments and not disclose their identities to their parents or guardians if they didn’t feel safe doing so. But the Delaware DOE changed course after pressure from anti-trans groups. The DOE is taking public comments on this issue until July 6th from people inside and outside Delaware. Please join us in reaching out to the Delaware DOE. Tell the they have a responsibility to protect trans youth, not put them in harm’s way.  All trans students deserve to be themselves and be supported by their schools so that they can learn and thrive, free from bias.
